Since you know the speed on the treadmill, you are able to consistently hit target workouts and can control the outcome. You also have the advantage of not facing outside elements such as snow, ice, wind, etc. This means you can focus directly on your targeted pace and speed.

1 Mile Warm Up
4-6 x 0.25 miles, rest 90 seconds
1 Mile Cool Down
Pace: run at your fastest mile pace.
Rest: easy jog or walk.
