Delicious juicing! So I’m not really the “selfie” type but I figured this was pretty fitting. I have a friend at work that inspired me to try something new. Being a dietitian I think it’s really important to always know what your clients are feeling. So when I was presented this idea, I did some research and decided to try it out.
For the past three days I have been juicing. I went to an awesome grocer in Milwaukee called Cermak and bought a whole boat load of fruits and veggies (for only $20!) and started juicing. Now, I’m not really the supplement type, I’ve tried them, but always stuck with my beliefs that real food is its own medicine. With this, the next three days I am cleaning out my system with REAL FOOD by drinking 3-4 juices per day. I have been supplementing with coconut water and a spoonful of natural peanut butter before my workouts.
As for athletes like yourself and I, I would only recommend juicing for no more than a week at a time due to the needs of protein – essential amino acids. Even if you decide to go for a week, throw some chia seeds in your juice – they provide complete proteins for muscle needs and recovery.
